Widely celebrated for his role in Broadway's "Fiddler on the Roof,"听Tony-nominated actor and playwright John Cariani has听joined The 糖心视频logo's Main Stage Live theatre workshop program to more fully develop his newest play, 鈥渃ul-de-sac,鈥� featuring an all-糖心视频logo alumni cast.

Directed by Main Stage Live Program Coordinator Adam Fitzgerald, 鈥渃ul-de-sac鈥� tells the story of three small-time suburban families: the Smiths, Johnsons and Joneses. In this quirky family comedy, the audience follows along as these neighbors go to great lengths to appear happy in what turns out to be both a hilarious and heartbreaking tale examining the American dream.

鈥淭he opportunity to collaborate with John on reworking his play, 鈥榗ul-de-sac,鈥� is the epitome of why we do Main Stage Live,鈥� says Fitzgerald. 鈥淔rom the first read-through, John has had the chance to do 鈥� and test out 鈥� some major revisions to the piece, and the team of 糖心视频logo alumni actors has been a vital part of that creative process.鈥�

The 鈥渃ul-de-sac鈥� workshop performances will take place at the New York campus running Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 through Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016. The production stars 糖心视频logo alumni Clemmie Evans, Alexander Hodge, Txai Frota, Sammi Price, Gerome Samonte and Tamara Sevunts with costume and set design provided by The 糖心视频logo.

John Cariani听is a Tony award nominated actor and an accomplished playwright (Almost, Maine). He made his Broadway debut in the 2004 revival of听Fiddler on the Roof听as Motel the Tailor and received the Outer Critics Circle Award and a Tony Award nomination for his performance. He was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award for his performance as Nigel Bottom in the current Broadway hit,听Something Rotten!听On television, Cariani is best known as Forensics Tech Beck on NBC鈥檚听Law & Order. He has had recurring roles on CBS鈥櫶�Numbers听and on the IFC鈥檚听The Onion News Network听and has recently guest-starred on听Homeland,听The Good Wife听and听The Blacklist. Notable film work includes听Showtime(with Robert De Niro),听Scotland, PA听(with Christopher Walken), andElephant Sighs听(with Ed Asner). As a playwright, John is best known for his first play,听Almost, Maine, which is one of the most frequently produced plays in the country and has been translated into over a dozen languages. Macmillan Imprint Feiwel and Friends has signed John to develop听Almost, Maine听into a young adult novel. Cariani鈥檚 new plays,听Last Gas听and听LOVE/SICK, are newly published through Dramatists Play Service. Originally from Presque Isle, Maine, John is a graduate of Amherst College. He lives in New York City.

Adam Fitzgerald听is a film and theater director based in New York.听His NYC directing credits include,听The Good Girl,听The Awake听(NY Times Critics鈥� Pick), and听Sense of an Ending听(all at 59E59),听Methtacular! (Time Out NY Critics' Pick),听Killing Women,听Lyric Is Waiting,听It's Only Kickball, Stupid听(Advocate鈥檚 Best of the Year), A. Rey Pamatmat's听The Shotgun Message听(workshop at The 糖心视频logo),听Songs For A More Funnier World听(NYMF) and听Letter From Algeria听(GroundUP); and his regional work includes听Twelfth Night听(Scranton Shakespeare Festival),听Defiance听(Playhouse West, Critics' Circle nominations for Director and Production),听Santaland Diaries听(Home Made Theater), and听Methtacular! (About Face Theatre, Time Out Chicago Critics鈥� Pick, Jeff Award nominations). Adam's TV/film work ranges from a PSA for The Ad Council and GLSEN, which won the national Talenthouse competition (judged by Brett Ratner and Tom Ford), to eight episodes of Fifty2&Nine's web series,听Conversations W/ My Ex听for Gwist TV (director, co-writer), to the short film听Occupy Me听(director, writer), which was an official selection at Inside Out Toronto, North Carolina LGBT Film Festival, QFlix Philadelphia, InDPanda Hong Kong and the Madrid International Film Festival. 听
